San Francisco Transit Police Targeted

The San Francisco Transit Police (BART) Officers Association website was recently breached by hackers who stole 100 names, passwords and addresses of police union members. Later, the group posted this sensitive information on Pastebin. This is evidence that hacker groups are targeting larger, more risky groups to acquire critical information and post it on the Internet.

Large hacker group, Anonymous, recently announced it accessed and stole approximately one gigabyte of data from NATO databases. This news was released only one day following the arrest by U.S. authorities of 14 individuals involved with the Anonymous attack on PayPal in 2010. This move by the hacker group seems to be risky given the investigation and arrest of fellow group members.
