One of the biggest mistakes webmasters make when purchasing a reseller hosting plan has is failing to consider the amount of prospective clients they have access to. In most businesses the business owner can focus on finding clients after they have set up the business, however going into reseller hosting as a profitable endeavor  without first having a pool of potential clients is not the wisest decision. The reason why it is important to have potential customers in reseller hosting is because the main selling points in web hosting are trust and confidence. Most people want to know that their web hosting company is reliable, and the only way this trust is formed is either through past business transactions or word of mouth. If you operate a web-based service business then you should be able to find at least a few web hosting clients.

How Many Sites Do You Own?

If you have less than 5-10 websites then reseller web hosting is probably not the best choice for you, unless you meet the aforementioned criteria of having potential clients. If you do not have enough online data to warrant the expense of a reseller hosting account, then it may be best to purchase a smaller plan in the meantime. If you do own a lot of sites, then reseller hosting will give you the opportunity to host all of your files while giving your site optimal performance, and allowing you to diversify your business by renting out some of your hosting resources.

Do You Plan On Selling Your Hosting Resources?

While it may seem like the answer to this question is an obvious one, the truth is many people opt to buy a reseller hosting plan simply for the amount of server resources and freedom that comes with it. Although reseller hosting provide optimal site performance and plenty of server resources, it may be best to purchase a dedicated or VPS hosting plan if you do not intend to resell your hosting plans.
