Becoming a Successful Hosting Reseller Using Unconventional Methods

If you're a business minded entrepreneur then you may have realized the financial benefits of becoming a web hosting reseller. Aside from having a large amount of server resources at your disposal, you have the opportunity to redistribute these resources to clients and earn a residual monthly income on complete autopilot. To a lot of people, this idea sounds very appealing, yet highly unattainable as they simply don't know how to compete with the big web hosting companies. Being a middleman in the web hosting industry certainly isn't easy, but there are many ways to game the market without having a vast amount of experience, technical knowledge or starting capital.

Rebranding and Packaging

If you want to be successful in the reseller web hosting industry then you need to disguise the fact that you are a middleman. No one likes buying products or services from a middle man, especially if they know they can go straight to the source and get a much better deal. Thus, it is very important to rebrand and package your plans in such a way that your hosting company appears to be self sufficient. Your website also needs to be very professional looking, otherwise your potential clients will not give you the time of day. Although rebranding and packaging your hosting plans may sound difficult, it is actually fairly simple as many web hosting companies give you tools that help you redesign your hosting control panel and create custom packages for your clients.

Know Your Target Audience

It is important to remember that you are targeting novice webmasters that are just starting out online, or people that are relatively inexperienced and are in need of another digital service. For example, people that are looking for web design services would be much more inclined to purchase a hosting plan that is packaged with a web design service, without thinking twice. Establishing a marketing campaign for your reseller hosting business requires aggressive advertising. This means that you cannot simply wait for people to find your site through the search engines. Instead you need to utilize the power of forums, blogs, chat rooms, social networks, video marketing, classified ads, and other methods of aggressive marketing.

Finding Clients Using Offline Marketing

One of the best ways to find people that are just starting out online, or would like to get started online, is through offline marketing. By taking your marketing campaign offline you're bringing your campaign into potentially untapped territory. Using this method locally is especially effective, as you can offer complete packages to local businesses to help them “bring their business outreach to a global level”. Many shop owners would jump at the opportunity to have a professional website custom built with all of the perks included. You can use the yellow pages to do telemarketing, post ads in the local newspaper, and even have your business listed in a variety of local directories. Remember your goal is to make yourself available to people that are not technically inclined, while also rebranding and packaging your services in such a way that it would be impossible to tell you are a middleman.
