PAETEC to Open New Data Center
PAETEC Holding recently announced it will open a new data center in McLean, Virginia, a close suburb of Washington, DC. PAETEC is a telecommunications and hosting provider with a presence in every region across the United States. This announcement comes after the opening of two other new data centers located in Phoenix, Arizona and Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the last five months.
The McLean data center will boast 49,000 Square Feet of elevated floor space that will provide colocation hosting services allowing for more geographic diversity to businesses and government agencies across the nation and closer to home on the East Coast. With plans to open at the end of 2011, the facility will provide, power, connectivity and plenty of available space for colocation hosting.
This will significantly add to PAETEC’s diverse portfolio of services in addition to high-speed connections to the Internet. Customers will be given access to the newest services offered by the data center which includes, dedicated server hosting, managed cloud storage, virtual hosting, Hosted Exchange and Hosted Network Security Services.
PAETEC representatives confirmed that this location was selected as a result of the growing needs of mid-Atlantic businesses and for government usage. A convenient location matched with a variety of services, leading infrastructure and customer support is sure to result in the premier data center on the East Coast. Also, the fiber and wireless networks guarantee that cloud-based services can be delivered to users across the U.S.
The current building in McLean consists of a 62,500 Square Feet and will be converted into a data center over the next several months in preparation for launch at the end of 2011. PAETEC will be hiring technical employees to assist the engineering staff for full support of the center. This facility will boast a 24-hour Technical Assistance Center, physical security and a redundant power source.
In addition to the 100 colocation-only facilities across the United States, PAETEC currently has data centers in the follow towns and cities:
- Andover, Massachusetts
- Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
- Conshohocken, Pennsylvania
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- Houston, Texas
- Phoenix, Arizona
- Richmond, Virginia
This expansion by PAETEC is going to give the area surrounding McLean, Virginia a major job boost in addition to better web hosting service across the East Coast. Major expansions by U.S.-based companies are excellent for the economy and a sign of continued economic growth.
