3 Ways to Use Your Dedicated Server

Sure, you may think you know a little bit about what dedicated servers are used for. Heck, you may even know a lot. Or maybe you have next to know clue what a dedicated server is, much less why you—or any other web master—would want to use one. But no matter where the cookie crumbles, there’s more to that singular server box that sits in the corner than you might think. No matter if you’re looking to invest in a fresh dedicated server, already own one and are looking for innovative uses, or are merely curious about the technology itself, we thought it might do a body good to relearn the various uses of a dedicated server.

With that in mind, peep our compilation below to gain a better understanding of three of the unique ways in which a dedicated server can be used.

1.  Web Server: Naturally, this one tends to be the most discusses. In this case, the dedicated server space is used to immediately connect users to the web content stored on its hard drive. This is typically an upgrade from shared hosting space, which bumps elbows with hundreds (or even thousands) of other websites, potentially creating problems. This is a more basic reason to own a dedicated server, so what about a few of the lesser known options?

2.  Backup Server: Another good reason to own a dedicated server is for backup purposes. Whether the space is intended to back up personal, business, or Web data, having your own server to store important information on is a key method for Internet success. Not only that, but should your primary unit—wherever it is stored—fail, you’ve got a backup at the ready with all of your Web organs.

Private Cloud: Another option is to use the dedicated server as a private cloud. This is a less defined configuration, as no one is (really) quite sure what the cloud is anyway! Regardless, a dedicated server is a fantastic way to store your media on the cloud at a local level. The server can be connected to a large number of computers, all of which are tied to the same network. From here, your employees can upload whatever they’d like, enjoying the full benefits of having their work immediately stored and saved to the cloud.Popular Links
