How to Install Cube Cart via cPanel

Cube Cart is an e-commerce shopping cart used by online store owners all over the world.  The software is highly functional and most importantly, simple to use.  Installing the cart is no sweat either, thus this tutorial will show you how it can be done both automatically and manually via your cPanel control panel.

Cube Cart Installation

- Log in to your cPanel account.

- From the cPanel main page, locate and click on the “Fantastico” icon.

- Underneath the “E-commerce” section and click on “Cube Cart.”

- On the right side of the page, click on “New Installation.”

The first part of the installation process calls for you to select the directory you want the Cube Cart application installed on.  To install the cart on your main site (http://yoursite.com), leave this field blank.  To install it on a particular directory, enter the directory of your choice.

- Next, enter the username and password for your Cube Cart administrative area.

- Lastly, click on the “Install Cube Cart” link.

- On the next page, the summary of the installation options will be displayed.  Click on “Finish Installation” to complete the installation process.

- Once complete, you will be given notification of a successful installation. From here, you can click the provided link to go directly to your Cube Cart administrative back-end.

Manual Installation

The Cube Cart shopping cart can also be manually installed through cPanel.  To proceed with this option, simply follow the steps below:

- Visit the official Cube Cart website and navigate to the download section to obtain the latest version of the software.

- Select the appropriate file and then download it to your local hard drive.

- Decompress the file to a specified directory so you can easily find it on your desktop.

- Upload the file contents to a specified directory of your choice on the server via FTP or the File Manager in cPanel.

- Logged into cPanel, navigate to and click on the  “MySQL Databases” icon.

- Next, create a MySQL database and save a name for it along with a user name and password.

- Using your web browser, go to the location of the files you just uploaded.  For example, “http://yoursite.com/cubecart.”

- The web installer will run automatically and display a license that you must read and accepted before proceeding.

- In the next step, the installation wizard will check and verify files and folders permissions.

- Once the permissions have been successfully checked, you will be asked to enter information about your server and database information.  This information is the same as you previously assigned in cPanel.

- After you successfully connect to the database, you will need to change some file permissions to the “global.inc.php” for security precautions.

Once you complete all of these steps, Cube Cart will be installed and ready to go.   Keep in mind that if you do not delete the install directory, the software will not function properly.  Other than that, you are free to go to your Cube Cart administrative back-end and start building your online store.
